Dear all,
Thanks for your universal support in Devon and welcome also
to Headteachers from Plymouth and Torbay. This campaign is across 17 local
authorities now. Credit to Jules White, Headteacher form West Sussex, for
co-ordinating all of this.
Please see documents below:
a n d
Education on the Doorstep (a straightforward guide for parents and carers to understand the key
issues of fair and improved funding for our schools).
Please
send out both documents at 10am on Friday 19 May to your parents via
email. Or as part of your school newsletter. Put links on the
website of your school and wherever else you think suitable – don’t forget to
add your name to the template letter!
Please link with local media from today and try to set up
coverage for Friday.
I’ve also added a L I N K to the national Fair Funding parents’
(Jo Yurky) group who are fully behind us.
We hope to get coverage on BBC and Sky but really need to
get this profiled locally as this is where politicians of all shades are
fighting on the doorstep for votes. I know that in some areas there’s not much
of a fight but we need to keep this going way beyond June 8.
BBC South West filmed in Kingsbridge yesterday, and ITV
South West filmed at St Peter’s today for airing later this week and
next.
Stand-by for another initiative coming your way - look out for another Special Edition DAPH Update with details on the #RightToGoodLearning (Devon) Campaign.
I know that some of you have felt/are feeling bombarded regarding funding at this busy time but to quote Lear “nothing will come
from nothing”.
Best wishes,
Matthew Shanks | DASH Co-Ordinator and on behalf of DASH Devon Association of Secondary Headteachers
