Reminders

Stakeholder engagement : Reprocurement of school aged immunisation services

Note: the online survey deadline is extended to Friday 5 May 2017

You may be aware that NHS England has recently announced its intention to recommission immunisation services for school aged children across a large part of the South West (Plymouth to South Gloucestershire) as many of the contracts are due to expire in 2018. This will include:

  • Seasonal flu immunisation for children in primary schools in the following local authority areas: South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset, Devon, Torbay, Plymouth.
  • HPV, MenACWY and teenage booster immunisation in 4 local authority areas: Somerset, Devon, Torbay, Plymouth.

This procurement represents a real opportunity to address historical inconsistencies in service models that currently exist across the local school aged immunisation services, as well as ensuring that services are in a position to increase uptake and reduce health inequalities. There are a number of key decisions that we need to make in the coming months around future configuration of the services and your views are important to us.

An online survey has been developed to gather stakeholders’ views and help inform the decision making process - visit the O N L I N E  S U R V E Y

Guidance documents  |  SW Schwimms procurement background  AND  SW Schwimms procurement options  (anyone completing the survey should have a look at these before completing their responses).

Contact NHS England | if  you or any members have any queries or would like us to come and discuss the procurement in more depth please contact us via phcontractssouthwest@nhs.net

For information: Bruising and injuries  in non-mobile children poster

Sent on behalf of Philippa Geddes, DSCB Board Manager

As you know the DSCB published three SCRs last year that related to injuries to non-mobile babies.

Please see the 'bruising and injuries in non-mobile children' P O S T E R that we would ask you to disseminate across your organisation and ask for it to be displayed in offices and where appropriate as a reminder to staff about what to do if they observe a bruise or injury to a non-mobile baby.

Can I also draw your attention again to the thematic review that was written by Dr Deborah Stalker – Designated Doctor for NEW Devon CCG  in June 2016 on Infants in Devon - read the executive summary on the DSCB website. The full report is available upon request.
