Message from Paul Walker, DAPH Chair and
Matthew Shanks, DASH Co-Ordinator

Dear all

Further to yesterday's DAPH Update newsletter regarding the joint letter funding formula, the coverage is likely to be significant from lunchtime today. BBC news, World at One, with Sky and C4 to follow.

If you haven't already done so, please could we ask you that you send a personalised copy to your local MP urgently, with inserts.  Please do speak out to the media  in your localities - with unity with have a chance. The key messages, as you know, are:

  • We need a new formula urgently  - abandonment is not an option
  • The formula must, however, not cap how much low funded schools get if it stops adequate funding
  • The DfE must stop wasting money on projects / expansions  that don't deal with the key issue of the fundamental need to give enough basic funding to all schools
  • A formula that either reduces funding for low funded schools or gives just a little to some schools and then takes away massive amounts in unfunded costs is not acceptable

An urgent rethink is required.

With thanks again to Jules White, Head Teacher at Tanbridge House School who began this campaign.

Best wishes,

Paul Walker (On behalf of DAPH) &  Matthew Shanks (On behalf of DASH)
