N E W Westminster Hall Debate ‘Education Funding in Devon’ scheduled for Wednesday 18 January 2017 at 9.30am to 11.00am. Watch the debate live or after the event via this website. A transcript will be available on Thursday 19 January on this website.
Fair Funding for Devon?
|
One third of primary schools in Devon will see a proposed budget cut. Two thirds of secondary schools will also face that situation. Neighbouring counties have benefitted. Devon itself has not seen any change.
Consider the bigger picture and what this means
throughout the entire education journey of Devon's children as well as the impact in your school. Indications show some smaller schools (under 200 pupils) may
gain, however two thirds of secondary schools will see a severe impact
(some secondary schools seeing losses of around £100k when you take
everything into consideration such as NFF, removal of ESG, the Apprenticeship Levy,
National Living Wage and NI contributions and pensions).
Get involved | write to your local MP and Councillor
As far as we're aware, just 10% of Devon schools have written a letter to express concern regarding the National Funding Formula. It's not too late to write to your local MP/Councillor to share your views regarding how the NFF will affect your school - see the L I B R A R Y of letters received to date, and also a letter template and lots of useful information to create your own version (see DAPH Update dated 8 December 2016). You may want to reference the illustrative funding allocation for your school which is available on the NFF Stage 2 consultation page (see below).
Please remember to send the DAPH Office a copy of your MP/Councillor letters for central filing and inclusion on the DAPH website. Thank you.
