School representatives from primary and secondary are being invited to be part of the Local Authority SEND Moderation Panels. The SEND team will also be inviting representation from other partner SEN support services to include Babcock LDP, Health and Care colleagues. Both Health and Care are looking at how they effectively contribute to the EHCP process and how they will contribute to the moderation.

Panel meetings take place at County Hall, Exeter and are arranged as follows:-

Mondays Weekly |  10.00am-12.00pm  |  to moderate our 6 week decision making (whether EHCP needs assessment is required)

Forthcoming dates: 5 Dec, 12 Dec, 19 Dec

Wednesdays Weekly9.00am-12.00pm | to moderate 16 week decisions (whether to issue an EHCP or not)

Forthcoming dates: 7 Dec, 14 Dec, 21 Dec

Thursdays Half-Termly |9.00am-12.30pm |  Placements Panel

Forthcoming dates: TBC

We would like to invite primary headteachers  to participate and contribute to the meetings for the remainder of this term and possibly extending into the start of 2017. We will then agree a point to evaluate the arrangements (this may need to be extended depending on availability of colleagues). Please note that the 0-25 SEND team are initially seeking 10 primary headteachers to attend on a rotational basis to promote continuity.

See links to Moderation Panel ArrangementsModeration Panel dates for further information and the Threshold and Criteria document.

Note that these panels replace the E3 moderation meetings, the last one having been held on 16 November 2016. Valuable feedback has been received and we would like to thank SEND Reference Group members, headteachers and SENCo volunteers who have contributed to these meetings which have run for a year.

If you are interested in taking part in these new Moderation Panel meetings as detailed above, please send your name, contact details and also indicate your availability for the December dates to the DAPH Office by email (daph@devon.gov.uk) no later than Friday 2 December 2016.

Your details will be forwarded to the 0-25 SEND Team, who will then contact you to finalise arrangements. Further dates for 2017 will be confirmed in due course. In the event that we receive more nominations than required these will be considered on a 'first come first served' basis.
