Tues 22 Nov
The Peer Review got off to a good start yesterday. The Peer
Review team met with a number of different focus groups and forums, meeting with leads across Education, Health and Social Care and with Devon's Parent Carer Forum. Thank you to everyone who took
the time to participate in the focus groups.
The sessions all went well -
the Peer Review team found the groups they spoke to very accommodating and were
given a good welcome by all.
They said that our good arrangements show
confidence and a sense of ambition, and that staff were very open and transparent in the sessions they
attended.
The information and views presented by all the staff involved were highly
valued, and will form part of their overall assessment of our
effectiveness. Brief feedback will be provided to
Jo Olsson and Dawn Stabb each day, and the team will continue to gather further information and clarification on some of their initial findings before a more
detailed presentation of findings scheduled for Friday afternoon at the Peers'
final presentation, and via this bulletin early next week.
Today will involve travelling the length and breadth of Devon, with one part of the team visiting South Devon - a children's centre, primary and secondary school in Newton Abbot; while the other half of the team travel to Barnstaple in North Devon to visit a special school, pre-school and post-16 college. The team will also observe a panel meeting as
part of the Education Health and Care assessment process.
Tomorrow's (Thursday) schedule will include a visit to Ellen
Tinkham School to meet with some children and young people with complex needs, and to Countess Wear Community School in Exeter. They will also take part in meetings with Early Years leads,
our SEND Improvement Board and with our
strategic health colleagues and health providers.
