HeadsUp

This term Michelmores are hosting a series of HeadsUp seminars aimed at Head Teachers and senior leaders. The topics are:-

The Academy Landscape

Following the Government announcement that all schools must become an academy by 2022 and the subsequent U-turn (or detour as we believe it to be), many schools, both existing academies and maintained schools, have been left in a quandary. Delivered by Russell Holland, an academies expert in our specialist Schools Team, this seminar will address the key points you need to know. It is aimed at Head Teachers and senior leaders in both academies and maintained schools.

There will be an initial 20 minute overview on where we are and what is coming, followed by an interactive session addressing the questions, comments, opinions and concerns of those in the audience.  READ MORE  and book the Exeter event on Friday 30 September.

Challenging Parents

The relationship between schools and parents is fundamentally important to help deliver the best possible education.  While the overwhelming majority of parents are reasonable, individuals can sometimes take up disproportionate time and resource.   Aimed at Head Teachers and senior leaders, this seminar, will provide an overview of the main issues that arise when relationships between the parent and school become challenging.  The main objective is to enable schools to be fully aware of the range of options that are available to them to help them pro-actively manage difficult situations in the best possible way. READ MORE and book the Exeter event on Friday 4 November.

The seminar will last for about an hour to consist of a presentation of the key legal principles with additional time for specific questions and group discussion.

Disability Discrimination

It is vital that schools understand their legal duties when it comes to disability discrimination and special educational needs.  Claims for disability discrimination are inevitably stressful and take up resources.   Aimed at Head Teachers and senior leaders, the purpose of this seminar is to help schools feel confident and empowered when making decisions involving students with disabilities.

After a 30 minute presentation and discussion, there will be time to discuss any specific questions. READ MORE and book the Exeter event on Friday 2 December.
