Fairer early years funding plan launched

The government has launched a consultation on Early Years funding. It’s consulting on proposals to change the way we fund free childcare and early years education. The proposals include:

•             introducing a new early years national funding formula for 3 and 4 year olds;

•             changing the way local authorities fund the early years providers in their area; and

•             making sure that children with special educational needs or disabilities attract the extra funding they need.

Naturally, f40 will discuss the consultation information and will be making a submission.  READ MORE

Section 175/157 Safeguarding Annual Audit

Babcock LDP will be sending this year’s audit out to schools and settings week beginning 12 September. Whilst many of the questions are the same as in previous years, there are some new questions. In response to feedback, this year’s audit is on an Excel spreadsheet which will enable designated safeguarding leads to save and share it with colleagues. As in previous years, if the audit is not completed fully it will be returned. Please do not submit hard copies. The deadline for completion is 31 December 2016. A 100% return has been achieved for the last three years, but a lot of time is spent chasing schools which have not responded by the deadline, so please complete and return promptly. Any questions about the audit should be sent to Louisa.rockey@babcockinternational.com

New Sub Category for Children subject of a child protection plan

Nicky Scutt, Senior Manager, Safeguarding  |  contact nicky.scutt@devon.gcsx.gov.uk

As from 20th July the existing  four categories, physical, sexual, neglect and emotional abuse will all have the sub category of domestic abuse.

When you are considering making children subject of a plan where domestic abuse is a significant factor, please use the appropriate main category and sub category of domestic abuse.

We have added this sub category as a result of feedback from parents, who have struggled to understand what the concerns are. Hopefully it will enable you to be more specific with parents about the nature of the concerns and it will enable the capturing of specific data on domestic abuse.
