Dear Colleagues
Re. Education SEND strategy
The SEND reference group has
representatives from all education sectors to help make sure that there is good
joint working at a strategic level. At its last meeting 30 June it
considered the self-evaluation of SEND from an education perspective and the
draft education SEND strategy. It agreed that all schools and colleges should
have an opportunity to consider these which were still at an early stage.
Members of the SEND reference
group agreed to meet 13 September to discuss any feedback received and further
development of the self-evaluation and the strategy. The representatives
are: Catherine Rees (DAPH), Moira Marder (DASH), Sarah Pickering (SHAD) and Mim
White (FE).
I therefore attach links to
documents below for your information:
a. A summary
of the self-evaluation (two pages)
b. A more
detailed self-evaluation for information
c. A summary
of the key areas of the draft education SEND
strategy
d. The full
draft SEND strategy for information
All the documents are provided
for information but we quite understand that many people will only have the
opportunity to consider the summaries.
We would appreciate if you
could feedback by Friday 9 September (although feedback after that date
will still be appreciated) on:
1. You agree
that the self-evaluation is largely accurate.
2. Any comments
on the self-evaluation
3. Your views
on the draft strategy:
a. Are the principles appropriate?
b. Are the key challenges accurate?
c. Are the key strategies the right ones?
How do I submit my feedback?
Please send your feedback via
this F O R M to Alice Potter at the above email address to the Special Education
0-25 Team.
Thank you for your time and I
wish you all a refreshing summer break.
Yours Faithfully
Julia Foster, SEN Strategy Manager
