Markham Vale - An Environment for Success

Welcome to the latest issue of our Markham Vale e-newsletter. As usual there’s lots of exciting developments to read about.

Progress at the ARK at Markham

ARK at Markham Vale is the ideal destination for ambitious industrial and logistics businesses, offering cutting edge, sustainable spaces in a prime location.

The contractor, Henry Boot Construction, who have been commissioned to construct the four new buildings, is making excellent progress.

The Ark

In just three months, the ground has been stabilised and foundations installed enabling efficient erection of the steel framework to three of the four planned buildings as shown in the image below.

Work has recently started on erecting the fourth building – Unit D (see image below).

When complete, the buildings will range in size from 17,000 sq. ft. to 36,000 sq. ft.  The first unit (Unit A) is likely to be completed in September this year whilst the other three will be finished in the following two months.

Enterprise Way and Erin Road

Meanwhile on the adjoining Enterprise Way, the Council’s Highway Construction team have been putting the finishing touches to the new combined footway and cycleway immediately in front of the new buildings ready for when they become occupied.  Funding is being provided by the County Council.

Further west towards Staveley, contractors will soon commence work to widen a short section of footway along Erin Road between Cemetery Lane and Meadow Drive.  This 200m of existing footway will be improved to enable cyclists and other users to safely travel between the Trans Pennine Trail and Poolsbrook Country Park and onwards; to Markham Vale in the south and northwards to the planned Hartington Investment Zone.  Grant funding for this scheme has been provided by the East Midlands Combined County Authority as part of a Derbyshire County Council Green and Active Travel initiative

Both of the above schemes form part of the Markham Vale Travel Plan to encourage sustainable travel to work journeys by people working at the site.

Progress at the Moorings

Over at Staveley Town Basin, Triton Construction continue to make great progress towards completing the construction of The Moorings building.  Triton Construction are supported by professional design teams at RRP, Anderson Green, BWB and Jefferson Sheard.

The Moorings

Delays in connecting utilities to the site mean that the project is about three weeks behind schedule so we will get the keys to the new building towards the end of May this year

More information about The Moorings can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/567878569145267/

Triton Construction recently hosted a visit by students from Springwell Community College.  The students really engaged and appreciated the variety of professionals they met, and it has led to a lot more curiosity about the wide range of job roles and career opportunities in the construction sector. Triton assembled an excellent cross-section of experts in their field who were great at expressing their enjoyment and passion for the industry.

The Markham Vale team are pleased to report that terms have been agreed for a new exciting development on a small recently created plot to the rear of the Environment Centre.

The detailed designs for the planned office and industrial unit are still being prepared but we hope to bring you more information about the project in future newsletters.
