COVID-19 and General Update

Issue 22

Date 10 February 2021

In this issue:

Free Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is Available to Unpaid Carers who do not live with the Person they Care For

PPE

The Council will now be supplying ‘extra-resident unpaid carers’ with PPE (that’s unpaid family carers who do not live with the person they provide care for).

This offer will be available until end of June 2021 and is available to cover PPE needs that have arisen due to COVID-19. If the carer normally uses PPE because of the nature of the care provided, they should continue to access it through normal routes.

Any extra-resident carer who would like to take up this offer should be directed to our website page to place an order for PPE. Carers can direct any queries or problems with completing their online request to ppesupplies@derbyshire.gov.uk . All requests will be triaged by the PPE Hub and carers will be provided with additional advice and guidance to support their role and reduce the risk of transmission.

Derbyshire Carers Association (Tel 01773 833833) can provide assistance for any carer who is unable to use the on-line option because they cannot access the internet or do not have the skills to order PPE online.

These changes have now been included in the Government guidance for those who provide unpaid care to friends or family

Derbyshire County Council are planning to work with members of the Deaf Community to get their feedback on the Deaf Communication Support offer available in Derbyshire. Currently, the ‘Deaf Communication Support Offer’ is run by Communication Unlimited.

We want to improve opportunities and support for people to live well with Deafness. The feedback will help us see what is useful to them.

The questions will be about the current support offer and the questions will take between fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. There are four different ways to take part.

Option 1:  Email – see questions here (for a digital copy that can be filled in electronically, email the below address) - this needs to be completed and returned to asch.ac-commissioning@derbyshire.gov.uk

Option 3: Text message – by texting 07971 839886

Sight Support Community Engagement

Feedback

Derbyshire County Council are currently undertaking engagement with the Visually Impaired Community in Derbyshire. We want to hear views and experiences of the Visual Impairment Support offer available in Derbyshire.

We want to improve opportunities and support for people to live well with Visual Impairment. The responses to our engagement exercise will help us to find out people's opinions and what is important to them.

There are ten questions about the current support offer: the questions will take between fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. An officer from Derbyshire County Council will ask the questions over the telephone and will transcribe the answers.

Equally, if preferred, we can send out a large print hard copy of the questions by post, with a return post envelope included.

If you, or anyone you know or work with are interested in participating please contact
asch.ac-commissioning@derbyshire.gov.uk or phone or text us on 07971 839886.
