Flood warnings across Derbyshire

Flood water

With many roads still closed after Derbyshire felt the full force of Storm Christoph this week, we’re reminding motorists to stay safe.

Our highways teams are working as fast as they can to deal with the aftermath but extreme rainfall has led to standing water on many routes.

Please remember do not drive through flood water. Even if it looks shallow, don't run the risk.

You can find the latest flooding updates across Derbyshire – including the latest road closures – on our website. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages too for updates.

You can also sign up to get flood warnings and see the latest flood warnings for your area on the Government’s website.

In case of a flooding emergency where lives are in danger or there is a risk of injury always call 999 as soon as possible.

Shopping safely

Remember if you're popping out for food or other essentials to be mindful of the people around you.

The Covid-19 infection rate is still high and every action counts in the battle against the virus.

So when you're nipping out for essentials play your part:

  • Wear a face covering unless exempt
  • Shop alone if you can
  • Protect and respect others by keeping at least a 2 metre distance apart.

National lockdown restrictions are still in force so we must continue to stay at home as much as possible.

Keep going Derbyshire. your actions make a difference.

Domestic abuse support

Domestic abuse

Being at home during lockdown shouldn't mean being at risk.

We've seen domestic abuse cases rise while people are spending more time at home.

But it's so important to remember if you need to escape domestic abuse, you can leave your home – even in lockdown

The Derbyshire Domestic Abuse helpline is available 24/7 and offers a single point of contact for the help you need.

You can contact them on Tel: 08000 198 668 or by email at derbyshiredahelpline@theelmfoundation.org.uk

There's also lots of domestic abuse and mental health support on our website.
