Demystifying complaints about dental services
A new joint statement has been published by
the Regulation of Dental Services Programme Board to help
people understand the roles of national bodies and the correct route for
complaints about dental services. Dental providers can use this to check that
their own patient information reflects the information in the statement, so
that patients have consistent and clear information. Read more.
Examples of notable dental practice published
To share good practice and encourage
improvement, our inspectors ask dental providers to tell us about any notable
practice they have adopted that contributes to safe, high-quality care. We have
published a number of examples and show how each one relates to the key lines
of enquiry. See them on our website here.

What the public thinks about dental care
Local Healthwatch has collected valuable insight
into patient experience around NHS dentistry services in an evidence review.
This review will help dental professionals better understand people’s
experiences, inform the development of the new dental contract and help ensure that
people’s feedback plays a key role in the future regulation of the dental
sector.

Fees consultation
We recently published our consultation about the
fees we propose to charge registered providers in 2017/18. The proposals follow
our plans to continue to meet the Treasury’s requirement to recover our
chargeable costs in full from providers. We are not expecting fees to increase for
dental providers as we continually strive to ensure efficiency and
effectiveness of our regulatory work. The consultation closes at noon on 11
January 2017. Read more and respond online here.
Tips and mythbusters for dental practices
Our
Senior National Dental Adviser, John Milne, explains some common questions
about CQC inspections and shares agreed guidance. These are designed to support
CQC’s inspectors as they assess the quality of primary care dental services,
but are also helpful to dental providers. Read more here.
Promote your registration with CQC
Earlier this year, we provided some graphic
tools that dental providers may use to promote that you are regulated by CQC.
You may use the graphic on websites, emails and in printed promotional
material. Download the graphic and see how to use it here.
