Welcome to the latest edition of the Coventry Safeguarding Adults Board newsletter. Please take a few minutes to read important updates on training events, useful links and a very informative guide regarding Ramadan. There is also a link to a survey, which we would ask you to share with colleagues. Your feedback is welcomed as always.

The holy month of Ramadan is a very important time in the Islamic calendar; it began on the evening of Friday 28 February 2025 and will last for 29 – 30 days, ending with a special festival called Eid al-Fitr. Ramadan is observed by Muslims all over the world and here in Coventry, 10.4% of our population identified as Muslim during the 2021 census. It is a time for spiritual reflection, fasting, prayer, doing good deeds, and spending time with family and friends. People will make a special effort to connect with their communities and reach out to people who need help. In addition to regular obligatory prayers, Ramadan brings other additional voluntary acts of worship.
The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has produced a Ramadan Guide 2025 which contains guidance, advice and signposts to resources designed to help Muslims in Britain make the most of the blessed month. It is also a handy reference point for communities, workplaces, educators and colleagues of Muslims.
