In this issue:
Welcome to the latest edition of "In Partnership", showcasing the latest happenings in and around Coventry in support of children and young people with SEND.
With demand increasing for many services, families may not always find it easy to find support for their young people. However, in trying to bridge that gap, there are lots of places that can offer helpful tips and strategies in enabling young people to learn and develop; both from professionals and also other parents/young people.
I'd also love to highlight the "AmbasSENDors Group" which is run through SENDIASS. We've currently got some spaces available to join us for any young people (11-16yrs) who attend mainstream school - it's an opportunity to chill out, enjoy some activities and talk about their experiences of school and the community. We purposefully have low numbers for those that might find social situations more difficult, and are happy to meet with young people beforehand if they are not sure about attending. If you might be interested, let us know!
We are always happy to highlight any additional activities or events which might be of interest to children and young people (and their families), so please feel free to send them to sendnews@coventry.gov.uk
If you live in Coventry and have a child or young person who has selective mutism you may be interested in a new online Parent Support Group being led by Coventry's Educational Psychology Service (EPS) and Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service.
Meetings will take place each half term and offer an opportunity to meet other parents and share ideas and support.
For more information contact your Speech and Language Therapist or call
024 76 961455.

As young people with SEND get older, conversations should centre around the phrase "Preparing for Adulthood". This is recognised within all national guidance for SEND and, whilst preparations should start at the earliest age, it commonly tends to apply to those between the ages of 14-25.
In July, Coventry SEND will be running a "Pathways into Employment and Training" focussing on the options available to young people when leaving school, and encourage young people, their families and professionals working with them to come along.
There will be an information fair and talks by local providers which everyone attending can access according to their interests. Full details will be available mid-June.
When: 10am -12pm, Friday 12 July
Where: Coventry Council House, Committee Rooms 2 and 3
