The West Midlands Regional Adult Safeguarding Leads group have updated their Adult Self Neglect Best Practice Guidance. This document is for use when responding to self-neglect concerns and enquiries for adults with care and support needs and includes the legal framework, interventions, escalations, case examples and multi agency hoarding guidance.

Virtual working guidance

The West Midlands Regional Adult Safeguarding Leads group have also produced a tips and hints document for holding virtual adult safeguarding meetings. The document looks at the three main considerations for a virtual meeting to work well: technical, planning and participation.

Updated SAR toolkit

We have updated our Serious Adults Review Toolkit for professionals to use as a guide when deciding if an individual case meets the criteria for Safeguarding Adult Review. The document includes a checklist and an appendices of all template documents used in the process.

Practice tool to aid decision making

Threshold doc

This is a reminder that we have produced a practice tool to aid decision making for practitioners in all agencies working with adults with care and support needs in Coventry.

The purpose of the tool is to assist practitioners in assessing the seriousness and the level of risk associated with a safeguarding adult concern.

Download the tool.

Liberty Protection Safeguards

We are closely monitoring developments associated with the implementation of Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) which will provide protection for people aged 16 and above who are, or who need to be, deprived of their liberty in order to enable their care or treatment and who lack the mental capacity to consent to their arrangements.

The Draft Code of Practice is now available and can be accessed online.

If want to know more about the proposed changes, please the guidance issues by the Department of Health and Social Care, or information on the Coventry City Council page.

We recently held a learning event on Liberty Protection Safeguards - What we know so far. Access the video.
