We have produced guidance for staff who manage or undertake statutory Safeguarding Adult Enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014.
This includes an overview of the safeguarding process, who should conduct the enquiry and the duties of the Local Authority and organisation identified to undertake an enquiry.
Download a copy of the guidance.
We have also produced a supporting leaflet to support this guidance.
We have produced a One Minute Guide alongside Enabling Spaces CIC covering the topic of Hoarding.
The guide aims to assist practitioners in understanding what hoarding is, the various types and characteristics and tips for practitioners working with people who hoard.
Download the guide.
We will also be sending agencies a short follow up form to assess how agencies use our One Minute Guides and share them further.
We have produced a practice tool to aid decision making for practitioners in all agencies working with adults with care and support needs in Coventry.
The purpose of the tool is to assist practitioners in assessing the seriousness and the level of risk associated with a safeguarding adult concern.
Download the tool.
Adult Social Care have produced their Annual Report for 2020/2021 and is a 'local account' of what has gone well, the challenges faced and the improvements that have been made.
Read the local account.
Bournemouth University has produced a series of Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 guidance documents covering:
- Advance Care Planning
- Mental Capacity Act Requirements
- MCA Introduction
- LPS Publication
- MCA Requirements for Clinical Decisions
Read the guidance documents.
We are closely monitoring developments associated with the implementation of Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) which will provide protection for people aged 16 and above who are, or who need to be, deprived of their liberty in order to enable their care or treatment and who lack the mental capacity to consent to their arrangements.
They are expected to come into Force in April 2022, replacing Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
If want to know more about the proposed changes, please the guidance issues by the Department of Health and Social Care, or information on the Coventry City Council page.
We would like to encourage sign-up across all recipient networks to our newsletter so please share this across your teams.
Those interest can sign up on our website below, by entering their email into the signup box at the bottom of the page, or emailing tom.clubb@coventry.gov.uk to be added to the list.
