Schools' Olympic Torch Relay 26 March – 3 July 2020

To coincide with the Olympic Torch Relay in Japan, we are going to have an Olympic Torch Relay between Coventry schools.

  • 26 March:  An original London 1948 Olympic Torch will be lit at a ceremony in the centre of Coventry.
  • 26 March – 3 July: Participating schools will take the torch to the next school in the relay, the torch will remain at each school for one day. Participating schools will be given a specially designed map to plot the route of the torch. Schools will be invited to add one or more origami cranes (a symbol of peace) to a chain of cranes that will be displayed at the School Games.
  • The torch will end its journey at the School Games (Warwick Uni 2/3 July 2020).

Schools must register to participate by THURSDAY 20 FEBRUARY at the latest.  The route will be planned after this date and it won’t be possible to add schools.
