 Touch the Moon, Tuesday 12 August to Thursday 14 August
A chance to handle pieces of real meteorites, including one from Mars, and an actual lunar surface sample. These are 30–45-minute sessions, designed for 8- to 12-year-olds and interested others. Due to the terms and conditions of the loan of the samples, you cannot book these events online, but spaces are free and are bookable at the relevant library by phone or in person

 We Are All Astronauts, Friday 8 August
Join best-selling author/illustrator Kate Pankhurst to meet the shining star of We Are All Astronauts – young astronaut in training, Luna Scope. Float through the Milky Way with Luna as she discovers exactly what it takes to become a space explorer. A session fizzing with space facts, female pioneers of space travel, dressing up and drawing. (No space suits needed, with our feet firmly on Planet Earth we can learn all we can about space – just like astronauts. You could say we are all astronauts!).

 Out of this World, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August
Aged 7+ years? Have an interest in science? Enjoy getting creative with words? If you tick these boxes, this session could be for you. Join Wendy from Daresbury Laboratory and Dan Worsley, children’s author and storyteller as they collaborate to create an extraterrestrial event that mixes science fact and science fiction. Prepare to believe the unbelievable as Dan takes you on an interplanetary journey using his mind-boggling storytelling skills. Wendy’s spectacular scientific knowledge will stretch your mind and transport you to another dimension without leaving the venue. Witness heat sensors in action, hear about incredible projects and see stunning images from space through visual and practical demonstrations. An out-of-this world visual experience! Session suitable for children aged 7+ years. Duration: 90 minutes. Free refreshments.

 Exploring exoplanets and real-life spacecraft Tuesday 5 August and Thursday 7 August
Join Dr Steve Barrett from the University of Liverpool, Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Physics, for a talk on the real spaceships exploring the solar system and the real worlds beyond it. Intended for adults and those in High School. £3, each. Please book each event separately in advance.
