The festive season is fast approaching and we’re getting ready for plenty of winter warmer activities in our libraries. Read on to find out what’s happening near you, opening times over the Christmas period, and what to look forward to in January… |

Opening times over the festive period
Our libraries will be operating a revised service over the Christmas period.

Tuesday 24 December: All libraries (with the exception of Storyhouse) will close at 1pm.

Wednesday 25 - Thursday 26 December: All libraries closed (Storyhouse open 26 December)

Friday 27 December - Monday 30 December: Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Neston, Northwich, Upton and Winsford libraries open as usual.

Tuesday 31 December: Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Neston, Northwich, Upton and Winsford libraries open (all to close at 5pm)

Wednesday 1 January: All libraries closed

Thursday 2 January: All libraries re-open as usual

Our school and community libraries will be operating as below:
- Malpas (High School) – Closed from 7pm Thursday 19 December. Re-opens 1.30pm Tuesday 7 January 2025.
- Tarporley (High School)– Closed from 7pm Thursday 19 December. Re-opens 1.30pm Monday 6 January 2025.
- Hoole (CC) – Closed from 5pm Thursday 19 December. Re-opens 2pm Thursday 2 January 2025

We’re excited to announce that from Monday 9 December, our eNewspaper collections of local, regional and national publications will be available to view, download and read for free on BorrowBox alongside our eBooks and eAudiobooks.
If you’re already a BorrowBox user, you’ll be able to see the eNewspaper collections straight away and get reading.
If you haven’t used BorrowBox before it’s quick and easy to set up – all you need is your library card and password (click this link to reset if you’ve forgotten it).

 Hosted by Children Today, free online children’s author events for schools and individuals will be taking place between December 2024 and May 2025 and will feature 12 sessions with authors including paralympic gold medallist Danielle Brown MBE, Kate Foster and Matt Stephenson.
Each session will include a live reading by the author followed by a questions and answers session for children to ask their own questions.
Sign up to join in and listen to the live sessions - anyone who registers before Thursday 12th December will also be entered into a prize draw.

From 1 December 2024 to 20 February 2025, Children can take part in the Marvellous Makers winter reading challenge for free by logging on to wintermini.org.uk, where they will unlock a special digital badge and a new certificate of achievement once they meet their reading goal. The website also has fun activities related to amazing children's books and book recommendations.

 Once again, our libraries will be offering a wide range of free activities to help improve your mental and physical wellbeing, from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 January 2025.
Our larger libraries will be holding health and wellbeing marketplaces, 10am-4pm at:
- Storyhouse—Monday 20 January
- Frodsham Library—Tuesday 21 January
- Ellesmere Port Library—Wednesday 22 January
- Winsford Library—Friday 24 January (in partnership with Let’s Talk Winsford)
