February is the shortest month but by no means the quietest... here's what's going on in libraries this month. |
|

Cheshire West and Chester Council delivers library and museum services across the whole of the borough and we're asking for residents’ views on these services.
Our consultation launched on Monday 5 February and will be open for eight weeks, asking for feedback on a number of proposals on how we operate in the future.
Where can I share my views?
There are several ways to take part in the consultation.
Where can I talk to someone about the proposals?
There will be some informal public engagement sessions, where you can come and talk to library and museum services about the proposals. These will be at the following places:
- Thursday 15 February from 3pm to 7pm at Weaver Hall Museum and Northwich Library
- Tuesday 20 February from 9am to 1pm at Ellesmere Port Library
- Thursday 22 February from 2pm to 6pm at Grosvenor Museum Chester
- Friday 1 March from 9am to 1pm at Neston Library
- Thursday 7 March from 1pm to 5pm at Lion Salt Works Northwich
- Saturday 9 March from 9:30am to 1pm at Upton Library
- Monday 11 March from 2pm to 7pm at Winsford Library
- Thursday 14 March from 2pm to 5pm at Tarvin Library
What happens next?
When the consultation closes, library and museum services will then use the feedback to help shape the future museums and libraries service offer.
A summary of the consultation findings will be published on the Council website in spring 2024 alongside an update on the outcome of any decisions taken and the next steps.
For full details of the consultation please see the website: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/librariesandmuseums

Fourteen Days Margaret Atwood, John Grisham, Celeste Ng and more…
Set in a New York apartment building, Fourteen Days is an irresistibly propulsive novel with an unusual twist: each character in this diverse, eccentric cast of neighbours has been secretly written by a different, major literary voice. One week into lockdown, the tenants of a run-down apartment building in Manhattan have begun to gather on the rooftop each evening and tell stories. Gradually the tenants - some of whom have barely spoken to each other before now - become real neighbours.

The Fox Wife Yangsze Choo
Manchuria, 1908: A young woman is found frozen in the snow. Her death is clouded by rumours of foxes, believed to lure people into peril by transforming into beautiful women and men. Bao, a detective with a reputation for sniffing out the truth, is hired to uncover the dead woman's identity. Since childhood, Bao has been intrigued by the fox gods, yet they've remained tantalizingly out of reach. Until, perhaps, now.
