Chester Racecourse

Chester Racecourse vaccination centre

Chester Racecourse is now being used as a mass vaccination centre. The vaccinations are by appointment only and staffed by clinicians, led by the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, and a range of qualified volunteers and racecourse staff.

Anyone attending the racecourse is reminded that it is located close to Chester's 'Clockwise route', the road diversion scheme put in place while a vital new drainage tunnel is built for the city centre.  Please follow signage.

Clockwise

Clockwise is here - Nuns Road latest

If you are coming into Chester please take extra time and care if you are unfamiliar with the Clockwise route for the inner ring road while Chester's new drainage tunnel is built.

Nuns Road is now closed until January 2022, to allow for construction and operation of a drainage tunnel shaft at the Grosvenor Road junction.

As a result, only emergency vehicles will have access to this junction for safety reasons.

Access-only routes to Blackfriars, Nuns Road properties, Roomzzz Aparthotel and from the HQ Building/Abode Hotel car park exit will remain open to/from the Watergate Street direction only.

Pedestrian and cycle access along Nuns Road in both directions will be maintained during these works.

The Council is working very closely with the tunnel contractors to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and the timescales can be kept subject to any unforeseen delays.

Please use your smart phone’s sat-nav (handsfree) to get the best routes, journey time information and live updates on traffic even if you know the route.

Rural Cheshire

Rural Mobility Fund £1.075 Million

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been awarded £1.075m from the Government’s Rural Mobility Fund for a three-year trial of an innovative public transport service for residents living in rural and suburban areas. Instead of being a bus service operating along a fixed route, the trial will be based on a service with a flexible route that can be varied to only go where passengers are travelling to or from.

The Council will now develop a trial for Helsby, Frodsham and the surrounding rural communities including Kingsley, Crowton, Acton Bridge, Norley, Hatchmere, Oakmere, Flaxmere, Commonside, Delamere, Manley, Mouldsworth, Alvanley, Hapsford, Ince & Elton.
