Chester Racecourse vaccination centre
Chester Racecourse opened last month as a mass vaccination centre. The vaccinations are by appointment only and staffed by clinicians, led by the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, and a range of qualified volunteers and racecourse staff.
Anyone attending the racecourse is reminded that it is located close to Chester's 'Clockwise route', the road diversion scheme put in place while a vital new drainage tunnel is built for the city centre. Please follow signage.

Chester to Ellesmere Port canal towpath
The Northern section is now almost complete, with the Ultitrek surfacing currently being completed alongside the embankment repair by the MOD land. The embankment erosion works have been completed. The towpath closure is still in place along the full stretch of the Northern section for safety.
The tarmac surfacing and verge works on the Southern section are now complete. The path has been opened temporarily before the final surfacing can be added. The dampness is delaying the installation of the resin-bound surfacing at the moment.

Gas mains replacement scheme, Hoole, Chester
Every year, gas network Cadent upgrades around 300 miles of its 21,000-miles of underground gas distribution pipes in North West England, as the older mains reach the natural end of their safe operating lives. This also gets the local network ready for the introduction of greener gases like hydrogen, a move seen as key to the UK reaching its net zero ambitions.
Work started Hoole in February and is expected to take four weeks. The job has three elements of work, Shavington Av towards Hoole Rd, Hoole Rd from Newton Ln then into Hamilton St.
From 1 March traffic management arrangements will consist of Hamilton St closure, one-way traffic on Newton Ln (between Hoole Rd and Shavington Av with traffic being able to travel from Hoole Rd past the works). Hoole Rd will be under two-way signals.
The gas supply will remain to properties during the works.
