Easter edition

Recycle First

Welcome

Welcome to your Easter edition of Recycle First; all the recycling tips and information you will ever need this spring.

Keep a lid on it

Green and grey box

As the winter weather continues to brew up high winds, residents are reminded to keep lids securely placed on boxes for recycling collections to minimise the risk of recyclable material blowing around and littering streets. Don’t forget to bring recycling boxes and lids in as soon as possible after they have been emptied to prevent them from blowing all over the place and being damaged or lost.

Order a new bin, box or lid

Spring Clean

Spring Clean

This time of year is traditionally when we all get ready to spring clean our homes. To help West Cheshire Residents dispose of their unwanted items, recycling collections will be taking place as normal on Good Friday and Easter bank holiday Monday.

Fast Fashion

Wardrobe textiles

We all love a bargain outfit, but increasingly we are buying more, buying cheap and then discarding after only a few wears. On average, our fast fashion items are used for less than a year before we dispose of them.

Find out more about how to have a sustainable wardrobe at our event at Rowton Hall in Chester on 21 March 2020 and be in with the chance of winning an ECO washing machine.

Easter recycling

Foil on easter eggs

Remember that foil (if you scrunch and it stays scrunched then it can be recycled), plastic and cardboard from your Easter eggs can be recycled at the kerbside.

What is the link between recycling and climate change?

Climate change

Recycling helps reduce greenhouse gases caused by waste. Also recycled materials can be used to create other products and we then avoid taking raw materials from the earth, such as timber, fossil fuels, crude oil and water, or having to create them from scratch using more energy and creating further emissions.
