Spotlight on...
National Smile Month
A healthy mouth makes daily life easier. Eating, drinking and speaking should feel comfortable. When teeth and gums are cared for, children are less likely to experience pain or disruption.
Mouth problems can affect simple daily activities, such as:
- Feeling comfortable throughout the day.
Simple habits can support daily comfort:
- Brushing last thing at night and at one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Cutting down sugary foods and drinks.
- Visiting the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.
These small actions can help protect long-term comfort. They can also reduce the chance of problems that affect mood, routine and general wellbeing.
Looking after your smile is a simple way to support everyday quality of life, at every age. Small steps, done regularly, can make a lasting difference.
Cheshire East Best Start Family Hubs are supporting Smile Month by giving away free toothbrush and toothpaste kits in all of our hubs across the locality. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about how we can support your school/setting with this initiative.
Best Start in Life Local Plan
Every child in Cheshire East deserves the very best start in life. Our vision is simple: to ensure that every child grows up safe, happy, healthy, and able to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our Best Start in Life Local Plan sets out how we, alongside families and partners, will work together to create the strong foundations children need from conception through to the early years.
Thank you to those who were able to attend out co-production events in February and March.

Young Carers Corner
Come meet other Young Carers!
|
We run friendly monthly meet‑up groups for young carers in Macclesfield and Crewe, meeting once a month on a Tuesday evening. It’s a relaxed space to chat, play games or pool, complete artwork and sometimes make a meal together.
It's a chance to unwind, have fun, and connect with other young carers. We’re also excited to be planning a new group for our older young carers in Congleton, which will be launched in our newly renovated Family Hub this summer.
