Welcome to the November 2025 edition of our Family Hubs newsletter!
Cheshire East Family Hubs look forward to welcoming you into our hubs during this autumn season!
Spotlight on... Children's Rights Month
November is Children’s Rights Month. Across our family hubs we are dedicating the whole month to raising awareness of children’s rights, making it clear to children and young people that we value their opinions.
During the week of the 17th of November, it was agreed that Laura and Kasey will plan a more in-depth activity about safe spaces for Inside Outside. For the rest of the groups, we will have a A3 poster for parents to add a post it note which they can share where they think their children’s safe spaces are. We will have some of the Articles around the room, in particular 12 and 31. For all other groups please have some books about kindness, safety and belonging. Sensory baskets with soft fabrics, calming scents and maybe some gentle lights.
Youth Support Service- Youth Work Week: Celebrating the Impact of Youth Work
Youth Work Week takes place from Monday 3rd November, marking the National Youth Agency’s annual celebration of the life-changing impact youth work has across the UK.
This year’s theme, “Building Brighter Futures: Safe places, trusted support, and opportunities to thrive,” shines a spotlight on the vital role youth work plays in helping young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
To mark the occasion, Cheshire East Youth Support Service will be hosting two evening celebration events:
-
Tuesday 4th November at Macclesfield Hub 6-8pm.
-
Thursday 6th November at Monks Coppenhall Family Hub, Crewe 6-8pm.
We’re inviting young people who attend our regular provisions and HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programmes to join us in celebrating the successes and achievements of the past year.
We would LOVE to hear your feedback about our universal groups.

Bonfire Night is magical. But with sparklers burning 16 times hotter than your kettle, they can badly burn a child. Many parents aren’t clear what to tell their children about staying safe on Bonfire Night or what to do if the worst happens.
That’s why the Child Accident Prevention Trust have created some essential family safety tips to keep little ones safe!

Applications are now open for children starting primary school. If you are a parent, with a child born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, your child will be due to start primary school in September 2026. Parents are strongly advised to apply for three preferences.
Applications must be submitted to the child’s home local authority by:
- 15 January 2026 for pupils starting primary in September 2026.
Parents still need to apply even if the child has a brother or sister already at the school or the child is attending a nursery/preschool attached to the school. Some faith schools may also require parents and carers to submit a supplementary information form/confirmation of baptism. Further information about this will be available on the school’s website.
Parents should consider how their child will travel to school when making preferences. Parents can find out about school transport at Home-to-school travel support for reception to year 11
To apply online and for further information please go to Application process for starting school in September or call 0300 123 5012.

World Prematurity Day, observed every year on November 17, is a global awareness day dedicated to highlighting the challenges and impact of preterm birth. It serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to improve care for preterm infants and support for their families around the world.
At our Family Hubs we offer a Babies Together group, welcoming all parents/carers with their babies birth to walking.
These groups are run by start for life practitioners and give parents a relaxed environment to bond with their babies but also gives them the opportunity to meet others and share their experiences with parents alike.
Speaking to others can lift a massive weight for new parents and make them feel like they're a part of a community and they aren't alone in the struggling times they may be going through, such as premature birth.
See below for when and where you can attend
We are running a FREE Fussy Eating Workshop on Thursday 13th November 9:30 - 11:00am at Congleton Family Hub.
