School's out for summer!
Look out for special events to keep children and families entertained this summer.

Summer Reading Challenge
This year's Summer Reading Challenge will inspire children to explore the magical connection between stories and nature through Story Garden: adventures in nature and the great outdoors.
Children are invited to sign up and complete the challenge by reading, sharing or listening to any three books, and completing any three of the following activities:
- read, share or listen to a book
- complete the character hunt
- read, share or listen to a chapter of a book
- read a digital magazine on Libby
- attend a library event or activity
- enter a library competition
There are free swim vouchers for all completers (while stocks last) and Everybody Health and Leisure are kindly donating a prize to each library of a one month family membership. Just enter our Design a Story Garden competition for the chance to win.
Thank you to everyone who took part last year! We had the most participants of all the North West authorities, so we're really hoping to see lots of children signing up this year.

Holiday events for children
There are lots of summer holiday activities planned to keep your kids entertained, or to motivate them to complete the reading challenge, such as:
- kids yoga
- family zumba
- therapy dogs
- arts and crafts
- badge making
- RSPCA workshops
- build a bug hotel
- grow cress or sunflowers
- LEGO spike
- origami
- junk modelling
Events and activities vary by library, so check your library's Facebook or web page for details, and to book a place if necessary.
Most of our regular pre-school activities such as rhymetime, stories and songs, and baby bounce now carry on over the summer too.
