Back to school... for the young at heart
The children may have gone back to school this month, but learning is for everyone
Libraries offer lots of opportunities for informal learning at any age.

Nimble fingers
Some libraries hold regular craft workshops, where you can learn techniques such as quilling, felting, painting, book art, or how to make fabric collages and Christmas decorations:
- Congleton Library holds Crafternoon Tea on a Monday once a month, and Crafty Natter on alternate Wednesdays.
- Crewe Library holds Crafternoon Tea on alternate Thursdays.
- Holmes Chapel Library holds Craft-Tea-Chat every Thursday.
- Macclesfield Library holds Crafty Chat every Monday.
- Middlewich Library holds Crafter-days on a Saturday once every 3 months.
Knit and Natter groups are a great way to meet like-minded people and share your knitting and crochet skills. Groups meet regularly at Crewe, Handforth, Knutsford, Middlewich, Nantwich and Sandbach libraries.

Let's learn together
Lots of our learning opportunities are also social activities.
Library book groups, especially our shared reading groups, are a great way to make new friends and discover new authors and genres. We even have book groups for keen cooks, so you can develop your culinary skills too:
- Congleton Library holds Keen Cooks on the second Tuesday of the month.
- Disley Library holds Keen Cooks on the first Friday of the month.
- Holmes Chapel Library holds a monthly Gardening and Cookery group - cook autumn and winter, and garden spring and summer.
If writing is more your thing, their are creative writing groups in Crewe and Nantwich libraries.
Games clubs are another great way to meet people and brush up or learn a new skill. You'll find board games, card games, chess and more on offer at Alsager, Crewe, Knutsford, and Nantwich libraries.
You can find details of all your library's regular activities on their website and Facebook.

We support adults with a passion for lifelong learning, and Nantwich Library has been a hub for language learning for several years. They currently run a French, German, Latin, Italian, Spanish and Welsh conversation group. All the groups are free of charge and open to all adults. The Welsh group does have a waiting list, but all others are drop in with no need to book in advance. You do not need to be an expert speaker to join in as all abilities are welcome. The groups are led by our brilliant volunteers who are either native speakers or speak the languages fluently.
Many of our longstanding attendees find that coming to their conversation group at the library really enhances their understanding and fluency in their chosen language.
For more information about the groups please contact Nantwich Library.
If you're you studying BSL Levels 1, 2, or 3, Sandbach Library holds an informal conversation practice session on the first Monday of the month. All abilities and ages welcome.

Fact find with non-fiction
Of course, we have books on many subjects to help you learn something new.
Perhaps you're pursuing a hobby, learning to drive, managing your health, or doing some research? Whatever the reason, there are 1000s of non-fiction books you can borrow, as well as our reference and local history collections, and not forgetting our brilliant online resources.
Our books and online resources can help you get started, but if you'd like to explore your family history with others, Bollington, Crewe, Holmes Chapel, Nantwich, Sandbach, and Wilmslow libraries hold regular family history groups.
