We wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year, and to thank you for making 2024 such a good year.
Whether you've borrowed books, used our computers, attended an event or used our online services, your visit has meant a lot to us.

A huge thank you for the many ways you've made our year so special:
- Over 12,000 new members have joined a library since April
- 266,442 items have been issued since April
- We had the highest number of children participating in the Marvellous Makers Summer Reading Challenge in the whole of the North West, and 3141 children completed the challenge
- We've had 1000s of participants at library events - for all ages
We would like to thank the teachers, staff and parent helpers from the schools that have come in to visit us this year. We’ve had 123 class visits in 2024! That’s a lot of children we’ve been able to introduce to the library and share our love of books with.
A special thank you to our volunteers who help us deliver the Home Library Service, the Summer Reading Challenge, craft activities, languages, games and more, and our wonderful IT Buddies – they help us offer more services and are all brilliant.
Last, but not least, thank you (and welcome) to the 2159 people who've signed up for this newsletter in the past year.

You may remember that in June we invited you to take the happiness challenge and tell us how your library makes you feel happier.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It really meant a lot to us to read your comments. They were so lovely we couldn't resist sharing some of them:
- "I am smiling inside as it is a joy to browse the aisles of books so neatly laid and spaciously arranged, and as often happens, to chat to, or seek help from the staff."
- "The library is a warm and welcoming place for everyone nothing is too much trouble for the staff who always have smiles on their faces."
- "I still think of My Library as my safe place, my peace, my calm and my portal to the universe while I don't have to go anywhere."
- "It's a massive help to be able to access online information via the library."
- "I believe reading is a really good way to manage any mental health issues you may have as it gets you away from screen time and can transport your mind away from the worries of the world."
- "The children's library is always decorated in an amazingly inspiring way."
- "I have no doubt as to the immense benefits to so many people of our local library."
- "Long live libraries!"
