Innovation and creativity led to new and enhanced services.
All our libraries became Warm Spaces, and many also distributed Winter Wellbeing resources to residents experiencing fuel poverty. In partnership with ANSA, Congleton and Holmes Chapel libraries piloted two Need a Warm Coat rails to reduce textile waste and help with the cost-of-living crisis.
We produced social stories for each of our libraries to improve the library experience for our neurodiverse visitors. These are published on each library's web page.
Our Cheshire East Council Customer Service Point functions were extended to include DBS checks, and we handled 33,069 enquiries over the year.
Libraries created more opportunities for social connections by extending our events and activities programme for adults and children. We saw increased participation on the year before for all ages.
As well as our library events, we increased the number of commercial room hirers to increase income and provide a greater range of facilities under the one roof.
We've just introduced an online library events feedback form, so you can help us plan future events and activities.
Efficient air source heat pumps and solar panels were installed at Alsager, Middlewich and Wilmslow libraries.
Following a public consultation, we moved to new opening hours to reduce our operating costs.
