How did we calculate your saving?
We totalled the purchase price of the items you borrowed from our shelves during 2023. Each item was only counted when it was borrowed from the library, and not when it was renewed.
Your total saving only includes items borrowed from the shelves in our libraries - so if you've been using our free online newspapers and e-lending services, Libby and BorrowBox, for books, audiobooks and magazines, you've made an even bigger saving.

Laura saved over £970
Laura, one of our friendly library assistants, revealed that she'd saved over £970 during 2023.
She was quick to spot that she'd been borrowing lots of non-fiction titles, which tend to be more expensive than fiction titles.
Laura tells us that she's been inspired to explore new crafts and start new projects, which she wouldn't have been able to afford if she'd had to buy the books.
Fiction titles might be cheaper, but the costs soon add up if you're a keen reader - so you might be surprised by your savings total. If you have children, remember to check their accounts too!
