COVID cases update:
Positive COVID-19 cases remain on an upward trend across the borough – data in Cheshire East in the latest week to 2 September, shows that there were 252 cases per 100,000, and a total of 1365 cases in the previous 7 days.
Local workplaces can help us to avoid going in the wrong direction this autumn by reminding staff of the guidance on ‘hands, face, space and fresh air’ (see ‘When in busy / crowded spaces’ guidance below’)
Not only are positive cases UP, but the wearing of masks / face coverings appears to be significantly DOWN.
When in busy or crowded spaces follow the Covid safety guidance:
-
Hands- try to wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day
-
Face- wear a face covering in crowded spaces. The government recommends face coverings to be worn in crowded and enclosed areas, such as public transport. For more information please see the guidance on face coverings.
-
Space- Limit close contact with people you do not live with, particularly in busy / crowded spaces.
-
App- The NHS COVID-19 app is a vital part of NHS Test and Trace in England and Wales. Using the app helps stop the spread of the virus by informing you that you have been in close contact with someone who has since tested positive for coronavirus, even if you don’t know each other. The app also allows people to report symptoms, order a coronavirus test and check in to venues. To help protect yourself and others, download and use the latest version of the NHS COVID-19 app.
You can see further information online: steps and actions you can take to avoid catching and spreading coronavirus.
Testing regularly remains key to protecting everyone - as the above COVID case rates show, COVID-19 is still with us, so regular testing is still the best way to stop the virus from spreading.

Latest UK vaccination rates show that over 48.2 million have now received their first vaccination, 43.4 million a second dose to date.
The vaccination programme continues to go well in Cheshire East. However, there are a few areas in Cheshire East, particularly in the Crewe area where levels of vaccine uptake remain worryingly low. We appeal for for local business support to urge all Crewe residents, indeed all residents, to get their vaccinations as soon as possible.
