Current COVID infection rate:
Data in Cheshire East in the latest week 1 to 7 August, shows that there were 249 cases per 100,000, which is a slight increase compared with the previous week.
Latest vaccination rates show that over 47.1 million have now received their first vaccination, 39.8 million a second dose, and a total of 86.9 vaccinations given to date.
Testing regularly helps protect everyone:
As the above COVID case rates show, COVID-19 is still with us, and indeed is currently showing a slight rise locally, this highlights why regular testing is more important than ever and remains the best way to stop the virus from spreading.
The full range of ways to get a COVID-19 test locally can be seen on our webpage at: www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/covid-testing
 Our guidance for local businesses and workplaces remains the same, which is to:
We are here to help with workplace testing, and we can help your business with:
1. Training with the implementation and set-up of workplace testing (webinar training);
2. Delivery of test kits for testing sessions at your workplace;

Activity last week
With 316 regular screening tests completed last week, extensive contact tracing, plus two new pop-up test sites opened at Macclesfield Town Hall and Tesco Macclesfield, last week was a varied and full week for our testing team.
Testing this week:
This week we have lateral flow testing centres in Macclesfield and Crewe and at various locations around the borough, for walk-in tests or pre-booked slots:
- Prestbury Village Hall
- Wesley Centre, Sandbach
- New Life Church, Congleton
- Audlem Town Hall
- Wistaston Memorial Hall
- Asda, Crewe
- Macclesfield Town Hall (in front of the church)
Check the council’s testing page at: www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/covid-testing for full details – as dates and availability may vary.
 How to arrange tests:
LFT - Lateral flow test (LFT) appointments can be booked online at: https//cheshireeast.zipporah.co.uk/LFT.Bookings
PCR tests - can be booked online at: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Reporting home test results every time a rapid lateral flow test kit is used, really helps to contain the virus.
Trying to report results as soon as possible after taking the test is also important as it is not possible to report a result more than 24 hours after taking a test.
Test results reporting helps to ensure that infection rates in Cheshire East can be monitored and we can work more effectively to prevent and reduce the spread of the virus in our local areas.
Any staff who test positive, should also immediately inform their employer.
Test results can be reported online at: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
For any staff with school or college-age kids....
 We've noticed a recent rise in COVID cases in the 15-19 age group in particular, so we are actively encouraging parents and guardians of local students and school-children to simply ask them to keep up their testing twice a week and to also report their results twice weekly at: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
Young people have a great part to play in stopping the spread by getting tested regularly, and by taking up a vaccination when offered it.
