The works to construct the access road and bridge as part of the wider Chelmer Waterside project are continuing. During these works you will see contractors from GRAHAM delivering the works on behalf of Chelmsford City Council. |
|
During the past month the team have completed the following:
The steel sheet pile retaining structures that will form the new river edge on the north and south banks have been installed. Work has also commenced on the concrete piles that will support the new bridge. Work has also commenced on the concrete piled foundations that will support the new bridge structure.
There are 72 concrete piles to install (48 on the South and 24 on the North of the river) each pile is on average 30 meters deep.

|
Over the next few weeks you will start to notice some changes in the area as the team continues with the construction. This includes:
Installing the remaining concrete piles on both sides of the river and will begin work on adding the concrete capping beam to the sheet pile river edge works.
The next key stage will be to finish the bridge foundations by installing concrete pile caps that will support the piers and abutments.
