Latest updates to Companies House services

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we’re closely following government guidelines. We have plans in place to maintain services for our customers and to protect the welfare of our employees.

Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill

The government has introduced the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill, which will relieve the burden on businesses and support economic recovery.

Find out how the Bill will help your business.

Many of the measures in the Bill will need secondary legislation before they come into force. Nothing will change until that legislation is introduced.

Read explanations of each of the measures in these factsheets from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Stay safe at work

Stay alert, stay safe at work. For ways to be COVID-19 secure at work, go to gov.uk/workingsafely

The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance to help make sure workplaces are as safe as possible.

BEIS has also hosted webinars on working safely during coronavirus.

Read the guidance and listen to the webinar recordings to make sure that you're working safely.

Non-essential retail shops to re-open in England

From Monday 15 June, shops selling non-essential goods can re-open in England, as long as they continue to follow government guidelines to keep staff and customers safe.

Businesses should display a downloadable notice to inform customers and staff they're following COVID-secure guidance.

Safer workplace case studies

Watch the safer workplace case studies to see how a range of workplace settings are returning to work safely.

You can also visit the Coronavirus Business Support blog to read examples of how businesses such as Burger King and Ricardo have followed the government's working safely guidance.

Support for businesses and employees

Get help for your business at gov.uk/business-support

The government has announced a package of support available to businesses and employees during the coronavirus outbreak.

Visit gov.uk/business-support or use the business support finder to find out more about the support available to you and your business.

Use our online services

As part of our response to coronavirus, we’ve introduced a temporary service to Upload a document to Companies House.

We’re continually working to improve the service. As this service is updated, it will include more document types and features such as acknowledgments and payments.

Businesses can get a 3 month extension to file accounts with Companies House. Apply online citing COVID-19 to get the extension.
