Latest updates to Companies House services

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we’re closely following government guidelines. We have plans in place to maintain services for our customers and to protect the welfare of our employees.

Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill

The government has introduced the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill, which will relieve the burden on businesses and support economic recovery.

Many of the measures in the Bill will need secondary legislation before they come into force. Nothing will change until that legislation is introduced.

Stay safe at work

Stay alert, stay safe at work. For ways to be COVID-19 secure at work, go to gov.uk/workingsafely

The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance to help make sure workplaces are as safe as possible.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is also hosting webinars on working safely during coronavirus, covering a range of workplace settings.

Prime minister sets out timeline for retail in England to reopen in June

The government has issued updated guidance for people who work in or run shops, branches and stores to help them re-open and protect their staff and customers.

Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate scheme

Statutory Sick Pay - We're helping small to medium-sized businesses cover the costs of SSP

The Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Rebate scheme is now live. 

It'll help small and medium-sized businesses recover SSP payments they've made to employees.

Acas has released new guidance and resources to help employers and employees cope in these challenging times. 

Use our online services

It’s taking longer than usual to process paper documents. Where possible, use our online services to help us process your information as quickly as possible. 

You can now use our 'Upload a document to Companies House' service to upload and submit a small selection of documents. As this service is updated, it will include more document types and features.

This service will only be available for a selection of paper documents that do not already have an online option.

If your company cannot file accounts on time

Businesses can get a 3 month extension to file accounts with Companies House. Apply online citing COVID-19 to get the extension.

If you think the impact of coronavirus will cause delays in filing your company accounts, you can apply for a 3 month extension. You must apply before your filing deadline.
