The effects of climate change on dissolved oxygen concentrations in the seas around the UK and Ireland is presented in the latest Rolling Evidence Update led by Prof Claire Mahaffey, from the University of Liverpool.
Latest research indicates that ocean warming, especially in seasonally stratified regions, is increasing the risk of oxygen depletion, but the frequency of seasonal oxygen deficiency is unknown due to the paucity of data outside of the North Sea.
