This month's newsletter will focus on the learning and resources available for staff and practitioners across the system who work with adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
CSAB Learning Zone
Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board (CSAB) is committed to a culture of learning and improvement. Central to effective adult safeguarding is a competent workforce and we recognise that learning can take many forms.
The Learning Zone is a dedicated area for organisations, staff and practitioners to access learning relevant to their role in safeguarding adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
This is not intended to replace your organisational training but designed to enhance learning and best practice standards across the system.
The learning zone continues to be under development by our Learning & Development sub-group, please visit the page for further updates.
Safeguarding Adults Thresholds Tool
CSAB launched the Safeguarding Adults Thresholds Tool based on what was developed and in use by Adult Social Care. The tool is designed to support practitioners, partners and providers working with adult's to report and respond to concerns in the appropriate way.
Practitioners and staff across the system are asked to review and consider the thresholds the tool sets out when considering their response to safeguarding adult concerns.
Policy & Guidance
Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board publish guidance to enhance organisational policy and reflect a multi-agency approach to safeguarding adults. You will find a range of policy and guidance documents on our website including the multi-agency safeguarding policy and procedures.
E-learning
Cumbria County Council as a partner of CSAB offer e-learning training packages open to providers, 3rd sector groups and volunteers working with adults at risk of abuse or neglect. The courses are free of charge and can be accessed on the My Learningsite following a simple registration process.
Please note that where you can access organisational e-learning you should continue to do so for internal monitoring, compliance, and reporting purposes.
Tricky Friends
"Tricky Friends"is a short animation aimed at all individuals, groups and organisations who support people with learning disabilities and autism, to raise awareness of issues like exploitation, county lines, cuckooing.
The animation will help people to understand what good friendships are, when they might be harmful, and what they can do. It is important that people with learning disabilities and autism, those who have cognitive difficulties, and also children and young adults, have positive opportunities to make and maintain friendships. We want to help them do this, to reduce the risk of harm and exploitation in groups who may be less able to recognise the intentions of others.
SAR learning: lunch & learn recordings
CSAB deliver lunch and learn sessions to practitioners across the system on a range of topics. These are recorded for wider access and dissemination and can be used as a learning tool in team meetings.
