In today's update:

Public Health updates

Public Health

As you will be aware from Monday (16 August) the Government has implemented some changes to its self-isolation guidance, which means the national rules regarding self-isolating of a close contact with a person confirmed as Covid-19 positive have changed.

The only people who need to self-isolate now are;

  • The positive case
  • Those 18+ who are a close contact and unvaccinated or single vaccinated

More information about government changes to COVID-19 rules

However, we are aware that this is more complicated than it first seems if you are running an educational setting, especially for Childminding colleagues. Further information will be coming out from our Local Public Health Team, but in the meanwhile please remember that support and advice continues to be available via the Education IPC team via email: EducationIPC@cumbria.gov.uk

The Department for Education has published a new Q&A for childminders following Step 4 changes, clarifying how the rules on self-isolation apply to operating on domestic premises.

This includes guidance on:

  • household members self-isolating
  • reporting positive cases
  • operating outside of your regular setting

The Q&A can be accessed here

The council offers a full package of support, including excellent training, generous allowances, regular support groups, mentors and a dedicated support social worker.
