In today's update:
Dear Colleagues,
We are now almost at the end of term, and I am aware that some Early Years Providers will be finishing at the end of the week, with others continuing to run throughout the summer. To say it has been an unprecedented year is an understatement and I know that colleagues are reaching their limits now. I can fully understand that and I can only say thank you for the incredible work you have done. Whether you are operating term time only, or an all year round provision, I hope that every member of your team will be able to enjoy some much needed and extremely well earned rest time at some stage over the summer.
Local discussions around the response to the Government’s Road Map are ongoing and we will keep you updated with bulletins throughout the summer period. We will also be convening a meeting of the Education Planning Group later in August to review the position and ensure that education providers have the support they need.
Thank you again,
Yours
Dan Barton

We want everyone in Cumbria to understand the importance of the first five years of a child’s life and how those early years lay the foundations for lifelong relationships, development and learning. The early years team and strategy group (which includes sector representatives) have been working on a vision statement which will help to capture the importance of this vital life stage. We hope that you like the logo that we have come up with, which will start to appear in many places across Cumbria to help us all to have conversations about why these years matter so much.
You may also enjoy this video called ‘Big Change Starts Small’, produced by the Royal Foundation, to mark the launch of the Centre for Early Childhood Education - Home - Centre for Early Childhood
Wider education partners in Cumbria are also collectively developing an all age vision which will include a theme of the vital importance of early years. Please see the link below for an opportunity to input your views.

As you may remember in June we shared a survey with all Early Years providers in Cumbria. We are pleased to let you know that 50% of you responded, which has provided us with a lot of information.
We will be emailing the results to you this week, so please look out for it.
Thank you to all those who took part in the survey.
