World Suicide Prevention Day 2020

world suicide prevention 20 sept

World Suicide Prevention Day 2020 is an awareness day observed on 10th September every year. The theme for this year is Working Together to Prevent Suicide.

For people who are feeling vulnerable or distressed, having a strong sense of connection is an important part of suicide prevention. Connection can come in many forms: we can connect with friends and family, have connections through various of activities.

Papyrus have recently published a well written and accessible guide for parents who are worried about self-harm suicide.  It also sets out how to have a conversation with their child about suicide.  It is called Parents’ Guide To Keeping Kids Suicide-Safe

“The new guide offers practical and professional advice to help break the silence around self-harm and suicide and encourage fearful parents to talk to their children before it is too late.”

The information can be downloaded by going to:

The guide contains details of the Papyrus Hopeline Phone number which parents can call for support from trained advisers.
