Latest update for early years settings - 19 June

Lots of updates in today's bulletin to work through, along with a reminder that you can find an archive of all of our bulletins on our website if you need to refer back to any information shared previously.

Updated guidance

We would like to draw your attention to new guidance that was released yesterday (18th June) – ‘What parents and carers need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak'.

Areas of the guidance that have been updated include the following:

  • an amended definition of vulnerable children and young people
  • further information on safety in settings and the national NHS Test and Trace programme
  • updated content 30 hours free childcare and/or tax-free childcare
  • updated content on transport which includes information on using face masks on transport

A useful easy read guide about what to do if you or a household member has symptoms has been produced for all members of the public. 

Support for early years and childcare provision - updated documents online

We have been sending you regular updates about the resources that the Early Years Team have been developing to support Early Years Providers through these difficult times. All of these documents are available on our website and include the latest transition documents, top tips for nurturing children’s emotional well-being and many other resources.

Please do not hesitate to contact your Early Years Adviser for support, for example, as you consider those children transitioning to Reception this Autumn. 

Updates from the Children’s Learning Disability Nursing Team

For colleagues working in North Cumbria, please find here information about a workshop on managing anxiety for parents/carers of children with a learning disability, global delay or autism and an updated referral form to the service.

See Hear Respond – support for vulnerable children during COVID-19

Back in April, the government announced an extra £750 million coronavirus funding for frontline charities.

The programme has been created help to children and young people in England who are experiencing harm and increased adversity due to COVID-19 by providing support to those who are not being seen by schools or other key agencies.

Early Years re-opening survey reminder

If you have not already done so, please complete the Early Years Survey to let us know when you are reopening. Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey about re-opening your provision.

We recognise this is an ever changing situation and that your plans might change, so please try to keep us informed. Thank you for all that you are doing to support children and families.
