We would like to thank colleagues, as ever, across the county for your continued commitment and dedication to children and young people’s learning in Cumbria.

Ofsted announced during the weekend that they will return to doing on-site registration visits from today (8 June). If you have an application that is at the ‘ready for a visit’ stage, you may soon receive a telephone call from Ofsted to arrange a visit.
Applicants reserve the right to withdraw their application, or to put their application on hold. As ever, the latest information can be found here.
This is a reminder to all Providers to check that your insurance is kept fully up to date for each premises from which you provide childcare. Updated guidance contains the following information:
Providers must carry the appropriate insurance (for example, public liability insurance) to cover all premises from which they provide childcare or childminding. Some existing public liability policies may have been written or adjusted during the term of the policy (where permitted) to exclude coronavirus (COVID-19) risks, and some insurers may choose to exclude coronavirus (COVID-19) when offering public liability policy renewals. Nurseries should check the terms and conditions of their public liability insurance policies and consult with their insurance providers and brokers to determine their coverage for coronavirus (COVID-19). It is worth noting that different insurers may take a different view, therefore nurseries are encouraged to shop around to seek the most suitable cover at the best price.
For general advice on insurance matters (not on specific policies) including those related to coronavirus (COVID-19), ABI can be contacted by phone on 0207 600 3333 or email at info@abi.org.uk.
We would like to remind schools that the SPOC (call centre) for track and trace is for schools and setting use only, this number should not be shared with parents. The call centre has been contacted by parents. This call centre is to support identification of potential outbreaks and clusters in order to support incident management.
Public facing information about the Test and Trace service is available on the Public Health England website; these materials can be shared with families.
If you wish to share any feedback about this service, please share it with one of the Early Years Team Managers who will ask that this is followed up at the next Track and Trace meeting.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the survey about re-opening your provision. If you have not already done so, please complete the Early Years Survey today.
We recognise this is an ever changing situation and that your plans might change, so please try to keep us informed. Thank you for all that you are doing to support children and families.
If you are a PVI early years provider, please complete the new survey using the following link before 11am each day:
