Latest update for all schools March 30

dan barton

Dear All,

Firstly, a huge thank you to all of you either working directly in one of our hubs, on a rota, or supporting virtually to ensure our children and young people are being so well cared for.

This is a very challenging situation and collaboration and compassion have never been so important. This week, we will be doing further work to match volunteers from across the sector, including within the Local Authority to particular hubs to build our 'backfill' capacity.

Finally, we are still awaiting a Department for Education (DfE) announcement about Free School Meals (FSM). In the meantime, we are working across service areas to audit local capacity and to develop plans for sustainable local models. I will update you as soon as possible. Thank you again and take care.

Latest up dates on our hubs

A full list of hubs is now available online on our service updates websites and as this changes, we will ensure it is updated.

Colleagues within the LIS have been contacting hubs today to see how the week has begun, and will continue to work with you to ensure supplies, catering and cleaning needs are met. The LA is  also developing some guidance on the emotional health and well-being support available to volunteers and this will be included in tomorrow’s briefing,

In addition to this the LIS has also been working with hubs to audit current capacity. A team of officers are working to match additional volunteers from across the sector, including from within the Local Authority, to our hubs and it is hoped that this information will be shared with hubs later this week.

We are aiming to ensure that we can minimise any new parents contacting hubs directly by signposting them to our public webpage. Over the weekend, we received approximately 60 new requests online for provision and we are contacting hubs to see how we can work together and offer support to meet this demand.

Colleagues from LIS, SEND and Social Care are in the process of undertaking further risk assessments of vulnerable children and young people and we will be working in close partnership with both current and any potential new hubs to ensure the best possible solutions for all going forwards.
