Cumbria SEND Improvement Programme

The Cumbria SEND Improvement Programme, created to respond to the recent Ofsted/CQC local area SEND inspection, has published its first e-newsletter. It contains information about the programme, the progress that’s been made so far and the plans for how parents/carers and children/young adults can get involved. It is also includes the draft Written Statement of Action, the plan that sets out how Cumbria is responding to the inspection recommendations.

Safeguarding in Education

The updated statutory guidance for safeguarding in schools and colleges, Keeping children safe in education 2019, has come into force. The guidance includes information on changes to local safeguarding children’s boards (LSCBs) arrangements, the new relationships and sex education curriculum and schools' responsibilities regarding pupils at risk of engaging in serious crime. The NSPCC has updated their briefing outlining the changes introduced in the updated guidance.

CSCP Consultation

From 29 September 2019, The Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP) will replace the current Cumbria Local Safeguarding Children Board. The new arrangements are set out in the CSCP plan which is published on our website.

We are now seeking your views on the changes and asking what you think the priorities should be for the new Board in the next year. We have created a questionnaire for you to fill in to tell us your views. Please follow this link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CSCPconsultation
