Delivering Better Value in SEND programme - Parent/Carers survey

Last month we officially announced that we are taking part in the Department for Education’s Delivering Better Value in SEND programme (DBV). This is a national programme to improve the outcomes of children with SEND and their families.

As part of this, Newton Europe, who are running the programme want to hear about your experience with our SEND service currently by completing a short survey, which will take about five minutes to complete and you have until 8th May to respond.

Thank you for taking the time to have your say.

Young Healthwatch Eating Disorder Project

Young Healthwatch volunteers recently carried out a project on Eating Disorders.  This project was initially developed because a member of the Young Healthwatch group had had a personal experience of eating disorders within their family, and wanted to raise awareness of the issues and concerns this can cause, but to also help support other young people who were going through a similar experience.

The young volunteers have taken part in a Podcast, produced information leaflets and written a short report about the project.

The information leaflets can be found here:

Free webinar: Spotlight on supported internships

A webinar for parents and carers of young people preparing for adult life. Thursday 18 May, 10.30am-12noon.

Join us to learn more about supported internships and how they can benefit your child/young person.

During this webinar, we’ll hear personal experiences from past supported interns and employers, and see how they benefited from the internship.

We’ll also hear from a Government representative explaining what the government are doing through investments to support more young people with SEND into work.

Supported internships are study programmes for young people, aged 16 to 24, who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and want to move into employment, but need some extra support.

This free webinar is particularly designed for all parents (including foster and adoptive parents) and representatives from parent carer forums.

It is organised by the national Internships Work programme, funded by the Department of Education, in partnership with the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) and Family Fund.

To book a place on this free online event, please complete this form.
