Introducing Linda Orr,  our new Head of SEND

I am excited to have been appointed to the Head of SEND in Central Bedfordshire.

I have worked in Special Educational Needs for the last 22 years, for the first 7 years in Parent Partnership, now SENDIASS, and since that time as Head of SEN Teams in 3 Local Authorities, most recently Barnet. My professional qualification is in Nursing, and I was Paediatric Sister working at a Child Development Centre in Ayrshire, Scotland before moving into SEN. My passion for working with families of children and young people with SEND stems from believing parents are experts in their own child, and I feel privileged to work with our families.

Working with colleagues in schools and settings, Health and Social Care partners and voluntary organisations hopefully enables us to make a real difference for families of children with SEND. Collaborative working and co-production with all stakeholders are key to achieving excellent outcomes for all children and young people. Ensuring children and young people get the ‘Right Support at the Right Time’ and continually striving for improved services is at the heart of what I do and believe in. I look forward to meeting you all and working with you.
