About us

Mental Health Awareness Days - dates for your diary

We all use calendars and diaries to keep up with our own commitments, appointments and tasks. Here’s an idea which you can use to add to your calendar in order to stay up to date with Mental Health Awareness days throughout the year – adding them to your calendar now will mean you can plan ahead to support others and share information with staff.

At Awareness days and events (rethink.org) the website allows you to have an overview of the focus days/weeks as well as having the function to add your email address, to be contacted with details of how to support these events and to receive further information. With days/weeks focussing on Eating Disorders, Schizophrenia, Stress and Suicide Prevention, every member of staff could benefit from learning more about others and themselves. Services provided by the EAP at  EAP can support both you and your family members (sharepoint.com) can complement the work undertaken by Mental Health First Aiders [training is available to book via School Improvement Service online calendar (bookingbug.com)].

Funding for Non-swimmers - Key Stage 3

I have significant funding from Public Health to address the high number of non-swimmers transferring into secondary schools in Yr 7.

Being a non-swimmer is a safeguarding issue, so I can fund interventions put in place for Yr 7s or Yr 8s who are genuine non-swimmers.

If schools set up intervention lessons, I can cover all costs, and can signpost to swimming providers if needed. Please do talk to the appropriate people in your schools (PE Dept, FSM, Pupil Premium, SENCO etc) because we must make our children safe in and near water.

Any questions – please contact Ian Roberts

Grafham Water Centre would like your views!

Grafham Water Centre is asking all schools to complete their attached survey – to find out what you are looking for from your residential visit each year. Please take just 2 minutes to complete this:

Grafham Water Centre themed visits (office.com)

Grafham Water Centre is still open through the winter months and taking bookings from schools, youth groups, with some fantastic team building days on offer, even some Christmas themed days to suit all needs.  There may be cold and dreary days ahead, but getting children outside the classroom – wrapped up warm will encourage further learning and skills they may not get inside. Find out more at the Grafham Water Centre website

Praise for Cambridgeshire Music's redesigned Stage and Screen Programme

Cambridgeshire Music’s Stage & Screen project continues to be a showstopper in schools across the county.

“Stage & Screen has allowed opportunities for children to get creative independently and with support. The children look forwarded to their weekly sessions. Activities such as role play and hot seating are already improving our English lessons” – Bar Hill Primary

“The project has supported their confidence when speaking in other areas of the curriculum and has helped them to be able to consider the points of view of others to work well as a team” – Caldecote Primary School

With its new redesign Stage & Screen is ready to inspire more students in January 2024. To find out more about Cambridgeshire Music’s new-look Stage & Screen programme visit Stage and Screen – Cambridgeshire Music - Making Music Happen Across The County
