The Care Act 2014 formalised the expectations on local Safeguarding Adults Boards to establish and agree a framework and process for how allegations against people working with adults with care and support needs (i.e. those in a position of trust) should be notified and responded to.
A Person in a Position of Trust (PIPOT) is anyone who works or volunteers with adults with care and support needs.
People can be considered to be in a ‘position of trust’ where they are likely to have contact with adults with care and support needs as part of their employment or voluntary work, and
- Where the role carries an expectation of Trust and
- The person is in a position to exercise authority, power, or control over an adult(s) with care and support needs (as perceived by the adult).
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Safeguarding Adults Board have now updated its 'Managing Allegations Against People in a Position of Trust' guidance which is available on the Safeguarding Partnership Board website Procedure for Managing Allegations against People in Positions of Trust (PiPoT) | Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Safeguarding Partnership Board (safeguardingcambspeterborough.org.uk)

If you already use Form, you do not need a new account. You just need to log in to your Me Learning account however you may need to request access to our workspace, if so please complete the request form here: https://forms.office.com/e/veuaszSypJ
Once you are in, registering for training should be very simple. Your Form account will keep track of everything you have registered for and provide a link to virtual training. It will also keep track of everything you complete. At the end of each course, there is a feedback form to fill in, which will then allow you to generate a certificate of attendance.

Recognizing and responding to Fabricated or Induced Illness in Adults
1st November, 2023 10:30-12:00
Fabricated and Induced Illness is a familiar concept in children’s safeguarding, but less often considered as a type of abuse experienced by Adults at Risk. In this training, we discuss the different forms this may take, indicators of FII in adults, and steps practitioners should take if they are concerned about an adult they work with.
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
-
Describe different presentations of FII in Adults
-
Identify indicators that an adult may be experiencing FII
-
Explain how to respond when concerned that an adult may be experiencing FII
