Cambridgeshire County Council are still welcoming applications for the Cambridgeshire Paid Teacher Internship Programme. You might like to consider this route to QTS for members of support staff who have the potential to be great teachers and would benefit from a salaried training programme over the course of two years. The programme enables you to retain and develop excellent staff members, grow your own teacher and make use of your apprenticeship levy funds (in year 2). Year One consists of a pre-ITE programme with support and training to prepare interns for the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship with QTS in Year Two.
More details, information for prospective candidates and application forms can be found here.
If you do not currently have a member of staff suitable for the programme, but your school would be interested in employing a Teacher Intern next academic year, please get in touch to express your interest as we also interview and place candidates who are not currently employed in a school.
If you have any questions about the programme, you can contact us using the details below.

Swimming and Water Safety is a statutory element of the Primary School Curriculum, but we know that there are young people who transfer to secondary school each summer, who are non-swimmers.
When information about Yr6s is passed on to secondary schools, can primary schools please add the names of non-swimmers to this. We need this to actually identify the children who would not be safe in water.
I am funding secondary schools to deliver top-up swimming lessons to targeted yr7s, and they will need to know who the non-swimmers are as soon as they arrive in September.
If you have any questions about this, please get in touch: Ian Roberts
Following on from Child Safety Week, please share the Dog Safety Code, which encourages everyone to be alert, aware and - most importantly - safe around dogs.
- Be alert – always keep an eye on children around dogs
- Be aware - dogs use signals to tell us how they feel
- Be safe – any dog can bite, accidents can happen fast
Follow the #DogSafety code: https://cfsg.org.uk/dog-safety/
